2016 Winter Series, NIXCS and Social Rides

Winter Race Series - 17 April, 15 May, 26 June, 24 July, 14 August, 18 September

6 Great races at the Piney on the same track each race 2pm start, XCO format. Laps will be the same each race and will be determined and announced before the first race.

There will be a dirtmasters race from 1.30pm

Social Series - 24 April, 22 May, 11 June, 17 July, 11 September

5 Social Events organised by different people each race. Locations and formats will change and details will be on the website 1 week prior to the event. Each event will have a family inclusive format and should be fun. Start time will be sometime Sunday and any other requirements will be

Northern Inland Cross Country Series (NIXCS)

All races are XCO formats - ~5km lap races.

Categories (indicative laps only). The age categories are based on your age you turn by the end of 2016.

Open Male 6 laps Open Female 5 laps

40+ Masters Male 4 laps 40+ Masters Female 3 laps

50+ Masters Male 4 laps 50+ Masters Female 3 laps

U19 Male and Female 4 laps

U17 Male and Female 3 laps

U15 Male and Female 2 laps

Sport Male and Female max 3 laps (no winner just participation for those who don't want to race with any pressure)

Male and Female U13 20 minutes riding on a special Dirtmaster Tack.

Race 1 - Tamworth

Race 2 - Walcha - NEW DATE Sunday 11 September

The second round of the 2016 NIXC Series that was postponed due to wet weather will now be held at the Walcha Mountain Bike Track on Sunday 11 September 2016.

If you have previously entered this event and are unable to come on this new date please contact Barb Hosking on bphosking@gmail.com so we can organise a refund.

As this event coincides with a NEMTB Social Event, the Walcha Team will hold a social ride at 1pm after lunch and the main NIXCS race.

Entry for this even is free to MTBA members and Non MTBA members will need a $10 Recreation Permit for seniors or a $7 Recreation Permit for Juniors.

The NIXCS Race start will be at 10.30am. Entry fees will be $10 for adults and $5 for Juniors.

Non MTBA members will need to buy a Day Licence for $25 if racing or $7 for a Dirtmaster Participation Licence.

The Walcha crew will be cooking up a storm on the BBQ and smashing out those coffees, so join us for Lunch after the race.

As this will be the last race of the NIXCS, presentations will follow the race.

The track this year is a 5.4km loop and the race will be an XCO lap race with the following race categories:

Male and Female Open

Male and Female 40+

Male and Female 50+

Male and Female U19

Male and Female U17

Male and Female U15

Male and Female Sport (no winner just participation for those who don't want to race with any pressure)

Male and Female U13 on a special Dirtmaster track.

Lap times will be approx 16 mins for the average riders.

12noon approx. BBQ lunch, socializing, series presentations

1pm Social Ride

The age for each category is based on the age you turn in 2016. Competitors can race up one grade. To control maximum race time junior riders may not be allowed to complete all their laps.

Race 3 - Inverell - Sunday 17 July

Race 4 - Piney (Armidale State Forest) - Sunday 14 August

The race start and finish will be on the Village Green. To get to the race start head north 4.9km along Rockvale Road from the Erskine St intersection (traffic lights) and turn right into the gate at the Pine Forest (just after the Tilbuster Traffic Bridge). Follow the gravel road down to the Village Green.

The track this year is approx a 4km loop and the race will be an XCO lap race. The team from NEMTB have selected a fun track with 2 short and sharp climbs that will get the heart rate moving. There are B lines for the really gnarly bits, but watch out for those roots, rocks and other little Pine Forest monsters!!! Lap times will be 15-20 mins for the average riders.
