NEMTB Summer Series Race 2 Results Monday 13th February 2012

There were 40 riders on the Kookaburra Crest track during round 2 of the Summer Series of races run by the New England Mountain Bikers (NEMTB) on Monday. The track had dried out completely and it was much faster than week 1. Most riders improved on their performances.

The winner in the men’s race was again David Harris. He became the first rider to complete 8 laps in the allocated 35 mins. Riders must begin their last lap before 35 minutes have expired. David did his 8 laps in a time of 40:23. Greg Manttan was second (7 laps in 35:36) followed by Anthony Bamford (7 laps in 36:31) and Peter Hosking (7 laps in 37:46).

Ben Brunckhorst returned from injury and was outstanding in winning the U19 division. He completed 7 laps in 38:11. Harrison Munday managed to stay upright this week for 2nd place (7 laps in 38:23) with Sam Hutton 3rd (7 laps in 39:54).

The U15’s was won by Mick Harris (6 laps in 35:47) from Angus Gasbarri (5 laps in 37:32) and Hugh Munday (5 laps in 40:44).

In the Open Female division Holly Harris won by finishing 7 laps in 40:22. Second was Jo Benham (6 laps in 36:04) with Lisa Harris 3rd (5 laps in 36:41).

Kathryn Hosking was again very impressive. She won the U15 female’s race with an impressive 6 laps in 42:16. Emily Wooster was second (5 laps in 39:24) from Bella Hosking (4 laps in 35:04).

Everyone is invited to race next Monday. The Juniors and Female race starts at 5.30 pm with registration at 5.15 pm. The men and elite female race starts at about 6.10 pm. The cost is $5 per race for members and $2 for junior members. Non-members need to buy a day licence to race for a cost of $15. Membership for 12 months to NEMTB is just $35 for 3 – 12 year olds, $80 for $13 to 18 year olds and $110 for adults. These fees cover the insurance cost to race and train.
