2014 Winter Series Race 2 - Mothers Day Madness in the Piney 11th May

Post date: May 11, 2014 8:31:22 AM

On an overcast afternoon 36 riders turned out to compete in the Mothers Day Classic. 12 lucky mums were showered with gifts. It was great to see some new riders and visiting riders on the day.

The pace was on from the start with Jack leading for the first half a lap before blowing up at the end of Snakes and Ladders. (Assada have lodged an inquiry and are waiting on toxicology results). Harry and Michael were left to fight it out at the front with Steve and John hot on their heels.

Micks chain stomping power proved too strong and he soon found None 11 Gearing doesn't cut it and walking is overrated.

Katherine humoured Pete on the first lap but snuck away on her second to take out the under 17 female and bragging rights in the Hosking's home.

The Open Female division saw some very close times with Nina and Daisy inseparable and Nards, Barb and Lisa all super close (very social in the Open Women, I think they were comparing mothers day presents) In the under 15 girls Emily smashed her dad with a PB time to edge out Bella, who's lap time was better than her dads last lap.

There is a pattern forming in the club with the kids becoming faster than their parents!

Over on the Green Track Jacqui took the win in the Open Women Sport from June and Nancy.

Paul edged out Jim in the Sport Mens with 3 laps. Alex and Alison both completed 2 laps of the Green Track.

The Dirtmasters smoked their way around the Green Track with the two Sams' at the front doing 2 laps. Sam Davis edged out Sam Feltham and Jessie, Hudson and Mabel rounding out the field.

A big thankyou to our timers for the day Megan and Caz and to Bella, Emily and Ali for cooking the bbq.

By the laughter and camaraderie after the race I'm sure everyone had a great time.

Next Winter Series Race is on the 22nd June. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Chris Feltham.
