The Piney Rehabilitation Project

2024 Update - The Piney Rehabilitation Project

Forest Corp NSW have advised NEMTB that the area of the Armidale State Forest bounded by Rockvale Road, Donald Creek and Tilbuster Ponds has been closed until further notice, as of Friday 5 July 2024

The closure is due to increased safety risk from falling trees and branches across this area and applies to all users. FCNSW plan to undertake further mitigation works to remove dangerous trees and weed control across this area. No timeframe has been given for when this work will commence or be completed.

The area closed encompasses a number of trails including Snakes n Ladders, Rooty Hill, Angry Eyes, the Yellow Loop and the village green. Most of these trails are still considered closed due to ongoing impacts from the deterioration of the forest in this area.

Club members and riders are strongly encouraged respect the closure and stay out of this section of The Piney

The trails on the eastern side Donald Creek, accessible from the Pine Forest Road carpark, are open for riding. Alternatively, please use the SportUNE, Fat Tyre Farm, and Robbers Run trail networks for your mountain biking fix.
