Bom Bom Blast- GNaTPACK Race 4

Post date: Jul 27, 2014 11:40:15 AM

This is a rundown from today at Grafton, check back for results soon.

After a stormy Saturday afternoon here in Armidale, a strong contingent of NEMTB headed to Grafton and basked in the glorious clear blue skies and mid 20 degree temperatures of Grafton for round 4 of the Gnatpack series. The usual NEMTB suspects from Moree, Walcha and Armidale lined up on the start line of the fast and flowy trails of Bom Bom State Forest.

Jack Feltham continued his blistering form of the past few weeks and was briefly seen scorching up the trail on the way to taking 1st place in the teams event with his partner in crime Michael Harris, who wasn't seen flying up the trail, but that maybe because he was moving too fast as usual!

The highly anticipated race between the teenage pairing of Emily Wooster and Katherine Hosking against their proud father's, aka Fast & Furious, was always going to explode on the Bom Bom trails. A very rare triumph by the aging Michael Wooster and Peter Hosking certainly sets the stage for a real grunge match at the next round right here in Armidale. Certainly the flatter terrain in Grafton suited the older generation, although Michael Wooster did need to superman to insure victory by flying over the handle bars to a creditable 2nd place in the teams category. The win over the girls however far more important than the race placing!

The Chisholm boys (Josh and Nick) continued to charge around the track collecting scalps with regularity. Josh taking out the under 15 boys and Nick taking out the under 13 boys categories. A very creditable result also for Bernie taking 5th in the extremely competitive Male Masters category with a number of other club representatives following Bernie home, but unable to match his pace over a full 3 hours of racing, no rest for these weekend warriors (Paul Whitford 6 laps, Paul Billings 6 laps and Chris Feltham 5 laps), well done chaps. Megan Wooster came in 4th in the solo female masters.

Bella Hosking took the honors in the under 13 girls category, pretty much locking out the lower age group categories. What a top result from our budding stars of the future!

Kudos to the Old Buzzards pairing of Barbara Hosking and Lisa Harris completing a very creditable 6 laps.

Another top showing for the club with approx. a quarter of the field representing NEMTB, well done to all.

See you at the next round right here in Armidale.
