NEW UNE TRAILS OPENING & SOCIAL RIDE

Friday 30 December 4.30pm, SportUNE Trail Head.

On Friday, the Project Gonzo trails will finally be opened after 4 years of planning and effort. Sculptured by Dirt Art, 6.6km of flowy bliss beckons for you and your bike.

Project Gonzo has been in the pipeline for a long while and is the culmination of work between many agencies including NSW Government, Armidale Regional Council, UNE, the local Anaiwan people, Dirt Art and of course NEMTB and its many volunteers who have provided hundreds of unpaid hours to prepare this sweet nectar ready for riding pleasure.

A quick description to give you a taste of what is to come:

Entrée: Gonzo – green graded. Smooth and flowy, like your beach hair after a summer swim.

Mains: Rola Retta – blue graded. Descent followed by easy switchback climb. You’ll feel like you’re on an Ebike even though you’re naturally aspirated.

Dessert: Iwata – blue graded. Climb followed by berms, turns and a flowy descent with enough airtime to add some frequent flyer points to your balance.

As a courtesy, please stay away from areas taped off with orange fencing – these are in place to protect aboriginal artifacts. Also some areas are still not ride-able in wet weather until some final trail capping is completed.

We know you’ll love them as much as we do and want as many wheels as possible across these new trails. So come along Friday after at 4.30pm for the grand opening ride.
