2012 Summer Series Race 3 Results - 20/2

The third race in the summer series was held on a stormy afternoon on Monday 20th February at Kookaburra Crest in Armidale. These short course mountain bike races are held by New England Mountain Bikers and are run every Monday afternoon during term 1.

In the Open women’s race, Lisa Harris won easily, completing an impressive 6 laps in the allocated time. She was followed by Nina Stone, Sonia Wrenford-Mobbs and Barb Hosking.

The Under 15 girls race was won by Katherine Hosking. She now has the elusive 7 laps in her sights after finishing her 6 laps in a time of 37 mins 55 secs. The cut off for starting the last lap is 35 minutes. The fast improving Emily Wooster came second with Bella Hosking third.

The under 15 men race was again won by Mick Harris. Second was Angus Gasbarri, followed by Jack Parker, Oscar Lamb, Hugh Munday and Jakobye Brown.

A large thunder storm rolled in just as the Open Men’s and Elite Women’s race was due to start. As a result, these riders will need to cool their heals until next Monday for their next race.

Everyone is invited to race next Monday. The Juniors and Female race starts at 5.30 pm with registration at 5.15 pm. The men and elite female race starts at about 6.10 pm. The cost is $5 per race for members and $2 for junior members. Non-members need to buy a day licence to race for a cost of $15. Membership for 12 months to NEMTB is just $35 for 3 – 12 year olds, $80 for $13 to 18 year olds and $110 for adults. These Membership Fees cover the insurance cost to race and train.
