Harris does it again

The third race in the Winter Series of mountain bike races, run by New England Mountain Bikers (NEMTB), was held on the 11.2 k track at the Armidale Pine Forest on Sunday. This is the longest track used at the piney and hence the open men's and women's races were reduced from four to three laps.

In the Open Men's division, David Harris and Peter Hosking rode tooth and nail all the way around with little separating them. In the end David won by just 22 seconds with Peter second yet again. Peter rode his new super light bike, but will need to find another way to get across the line first. Third was Stephen Chapman with Ashley Smith, from Tamworth, fourth.

Jo Benham made her long awaited return to the mountain bike with a good effort to win the Open Women's section. She had a good tussle with Holly Harris who easily won the Under 19 section. Holly just piped Jo on the line.

In the Sport division, the men's race was won by Jacob O'Brien. The women's division won by Lisa Harris from Shireen Brunckhorst. Third was the ever-improving Nina Stone. Nina was impressive on her new bike.

In the under 15's 1 lap race, Kathryn Hosking came in first in front of sister Bella Hosking. These two girls show no fear of the long 11.2 k course.
