Holly's First World Cup Race - Albstadt German

Post date: May 19, 2013 9:03:50 AM

Holly raced yesterday in her first UCI World Cup at Albstadt German. This was quite an experience with 45 competitors from 15 different countries from USA, NZ to all the other European nations.

It sounds like the weather was kind with no rain but still a little chilly.

Holly apparently got a good start and was in 24th position by the start of the last lap. A crash in the last lap lost quite a few places and she came in 33rd. Still a great result considering the calibre of the field and for what must have been a nerve racking first attempt at a WC! Well done Holly.

To put the quality of the riders into perspective most countries only had 3-4 competitors. Holly’s result is a huge achievement considering how massive mountain biking is in Europe. Check out the results here.

If you want to get an idea of the course at Slbstadt it’s worth watching the Elite Women race tonight via the live telecast on Red Bull TV from7:18pm.

Next weekend Holly will be competing in Round 2 of the Cross Country (XCO) World Cup in Nove Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic.
