There's nothing better than riding in The Tip!!!!

A group of the NEMTB crew headed down to The Tip (Taree’s single track mecca) for the sixth GNaTPACK - Mid North Coast MTB Series.
Following foul rumours of another wet track I had imaged we were going to be riding through a tin can littered muddy waste land of stench, instead we were greeted with sweetly dry and compacted fast track and no tips insight, well I guess it was on the same road as a tip. Luckily the predicted rain forecast for the back of the week never arrived. The 15 km loop selected, from the 50kms of single track available, had beautifull flowy sections with short constant climbs to mix it up and had us riding through some dry eucalyptus woodlands to spectacular, dark, lush rainforest.
There were some awesome efforts by the Under 15s with Michael Harris (1:40hr) and Katherine Hosking (2:22hr) both securing second in their respective 2 lap categories. Great effort considering they are 12 and 10 years old respectively.
Peter Platts finished in a respectable 2:42 hr for his three laps, taking 4th position in the U19. A very solid effort considering he nursed a semi-conscious rider back to the finish. Peter’s still unsure if the guy was married or was an alien from Mars, due his to incoherent mumblings. Well done to Pete for assisting a fellow MTBer in need.
Lisa Harris came in 4th in the Masters with a time of 1:50 hr. Bill Platts completed some very consistent lap times to finish 8th in the Super Masters with a time of 1:47hr.
Dave Harris once again put in a very convincing ride (2:10hr for three laps) to win the Masters category and fifth overall. Peter Hosking enjoyed the smooth single track a little too much and forgot he was racing, finishing 5th in the Masters with a time of 2:18hr.
