2015 GNaTPACK Round 1 Taree - NEMTB Report

Post date: Apr 27, 2015 9:37:37 AM

Sunday saw a huge day of success for the NEMTB crew of some 25 or riders who took part in Round 1 of the GNaTPACK mountain bike series. The Taree trail was in awesome condition and missed most of the heavy rain that has caused so much havoc to the south. The trail was about 13KM long and is a very fast and flowy track with a few pinch climbs to test tired legs of the 100 plus riders. It was fantastic to see so many of the New England crew make the journey. There were only a few minor incidents: Ben Harris being a bit over eager with the brakes in the feed zone, Megan with a stuck chain on her second Lap (Thanks again Peter Harris for fixing that one), Dave Harris with a crash at pace and my own unfortunate over the bars when I was just starting to make back up some ground on Paul Whitford after an earlier stick in the derailleur. I'll have to do some training for the next race...watch out Paul!

The Juniors again lead the way with lots of podiums while a few of the oldies more experienced riders also lead the way. Some of the results included: (sorry if I missed any, everybody rode so well!)

U15 Girls - 1st Bella Hosking, 2nd Sara Schalk, 3rd Jorjie Ledingham, 4th Allison Billings

U15 Boys - 1st Nick Chisolm, 2nd Harry Wooster, 4th Sam Feltham

U17 Girls - 1st Emily Wooster, 2nd Amie Harris, 3rd Grace Ledingham

U17 Boys - 1st Fergus MacQueen, 3rd Josh Chisolm

U19 Boys - 3rd Jack Feltham

Open Women - 1st Holly Harris, 2nd Katherine Hosking

Open Men - 3rd Michael Harris, 4th David Harris

Women 40+ - 2nd Barbara Hosking

Men 40+ - 3rd Ben Harris

Women Sport/Super Masters??? - 2nd Lisa Harris

As well as super efforts from the rest of the crew.

The Tip Riders always put on a fantastic event so if you missed out this time its well worth the journey down the coast to ride this 1st class track. Don't forget to get involved in the rest of the series with the next race being at Coffs Harbour. You will have a fantastic time testing yourself out on the coastal tracks and you will also be supporting the development of our regional juniors if you get involved.
