But there's always a catch - a little bit of hard labour!
This Saturday at 9 am there will be another working bee in preparation for the UNE 12 Hours In The Piney track. This is going to be a huge event with major sponsors onboard; University of New England, Armidale Dumaresq Council, Armidale Bicycle Centre, Hutchinson & Harlow, Newcastle Permanent, and Skirt Sports. On the day we will also have the assistance of Armidale SES and St Johns Ambulance. Forests NSW and Armidale Pine Forest Committee also continued to show their support for MTB in The Piney.
The tasks for Saturday are:
- put a steel gate in a fence
- finish clearing the two fallen trees
- make the new section of track over the hill smoother
- fine tune the new switchbacks going up the hill
- spray weeds
- install signs
- whipper snip some areas.
We will need a range of tools including shovels, wheelbarrows, mattocks, McLeod tools, hoes, rakes, whipper snippers, sledge hammers, crowbars and tree pruners. Hat, sunscreen and gloves too!
Meet at the 2011 Summer Series gate, just past Tilbuster Ponds bridge at 9am. If you prefer to start earlier or later, please call Bill on 0437578065 and so as he can organise access.
As stated above there will also be free pizza and soft drink thrown in for all the volunteers.
