Fat Tyre Farm anything but "fat and tired"!

The more time that I spend at Fat Tyre Farm the more that I appreciate how good it is. For example, despite about 100mm of rain recently, the surface today was damp and grippy but not muddy anywhere! Remarkable! Great drainage work. And as for riding it, well you are constantly "on your toes" doing interesting things including various technical challenges. The design and construction of this beautiful network of tracks is a testament to the expertise and enthusiasm of the Brunckhorst family.
Toby and David put a lot of work into some sections during the recent university holidays (including making an alternative route around the gully crossing that is very wet at times). Today David, Shireen, Fiona, Barb, Bella, the Gasbarri family and I finished (almost) getting the loop ready for next Sunday's club race. We also put up permanent signs (black arrows) so the loop will always be marked (including being available for practice runs this week).
We are truly lucky to have such a marvelous facility so close to town. For a skills training session, a good cardiovascular work out, or simply a nice ride in eucalypt forest, Fat Tyre Farm is definitely "fit and tyre-ific".
On behalf of the club, a big thank you to the working bee workers and the Brunckhorst family for creating this wonderful place. See you on Sunday.
