Jack Feltham - nearest to us is nailing the start

Jack Feltham has made a great improvement in the last few weeks as he has gone from 12th to 8th in his first National Series. Jack has been the only NEMTB member to participate in the first 2 rounds of the National series, he travelled to Adelaide 3 weeks ago and finished 12th and this weekend he and his father drove to Mt Buller for round 2. The Mt Buller track boasts some of the most well known trails and some of the steepest switch back climbs. Buller is nothing like anything we have to ride around here so it was a steep learning curve for the youngster. The steep climbs worked well for him but he found the technical high speed descents the most difficult and most of the competition spend their weekends on this track so they have a big advantage.

Jacks race was pretty solid with a strong start and enjoying a chance to start on the front of the grid. He did the first lap in 7th place but at a cost as his next 2 laps were a bit slower and he dropped back to 8th position. The U/17 level competition at national level includes riders who can mix it in Elite company anywhere else in Australia.

Jack will be back in the mix at the UNE track this afternoon with the round 2 of the summer series then round 3 of the national series at on the 22nd of February where he will be joined by a few other NEMTB riders in Holly and Mick Harris.
